Victory: Defeated Texas Senate Bill 2550
Texas Senate Bill 2550, if passed, would have established the line of vegetation on the coast as fixed distance of 200 feet inland from the mean low tide line, and would have deleted the finding that line of vegetation automatically establishes landward boundary of public easement. Fixing the line of vegetation would mean that the public beach does not migrate landward as the Gulf encroaches due to storm events and sea level rise, effectively shrinking the public beach over time.
